Piper Headboard Design Notes
The Piper Headboard features a simplistic design, making it a versatile piece. Its understated appearance pairs beautifully with a geometric print or rich velvet. Adding a contrasting colour to its piping highlights the headboard’s clean lines and frames the fabric.
Each of our bed headboards mount directly to the wall above the bed using a beechwood French cleat. This design lets the headboard adjust to any mattress height or divan base, making it compatible with any bed. You won’t need to replace the headboard if you change your bed or mattress, thanks to this flexible design.
We supply the timber battens for easy installation. Customers simply need to attach the battens to the wall at the height that best suits their bed and room.
Fabrics
Our extensive range of high-quality, exclusive fabrics lets you customise your headboard to match your colour palette and texture preferences, adding a unique sense of luxury and comfort to your bedroom.
You can upholster the Piper with any of our fabrics. We categorise our fabric collection into four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and our most exclusive Platinum Collection. The fabric you choose influences the cost of each piece. We also offer our fabrics for sale by the meter.
Piping
Piping on a headboard is a narrow, rounded fabric trim that runs along the edges or seams of the upholstery. Choosing a contrasting color for the piping accentuates the clean lines of the Pipers design and frames the fabric beautifully. Piping continues to be a popular and adaptable feature in both traditional and contemporary headboard styles.
Pairing
Pairing a simple headboard design like the Piper gives you the flexibility to create a balanced, cohesive look in your bedroom while maintaining a clean, minimalist aesthetic. To style a simple headboard, consider using bold bedding, statement lighting, and textural contrasts.
We love pairing our Piper headboard with our Harper Bed Bench to elevate the overall look of the room.
Enhance your space even more by pairing it with the Philly Chair. Eye catching in its appearance, the armless shape and plush seat cushion creates a lux feel to this chair. Whether you wish to customise it in funky pattern or a lush velvet, the Philly will be a great focal point in any living space.
- For best care, we recommend regularly vacuuming your upholstery using a soft brush attachment or a handheld brush.
- In the event of spills, promptly blot the area with a clean, soft, absorbent cloth to gently lift the liquid.
Most of our fabrics can be treated with a stain resistant coating. We recommend Aqua-dry to assist with both upholstery cleaning and protection.

Piper Headboard FAQ’s
1. What size headboard do I need?
The size of your headboard should complement both your bed and the overall proportions of your bedroom. Considerations such as height and width play a key role. Taller headboards make a bold statement and serve as a striking focal point, while shorter designs offer a more subtle, minimalist look. The width of your headboard should match the size of your bed frame. A wider headboard balances a king-size bed, while a narrower one fits a queen or full-size bed perfectly.
At our Finline Furniture workshop in Emo, Co. Laois, we handcraft headboards in standard sizes, but we also offer bespoke furniture sizes to fit your specific needs.
2. What style of headboard should I choose for my bedroom?
When selecting the shape of bed headboard – Firstly, consider the style of your room. A rectangular or squared-off headboard tends to complement a modern or minimalist aesthetic, while a curved or arched headboard can lend a more traditional or romantic feel.
Next, think about the size of your space. A tall headboard can make a small room appear cosier, while a lower one can create a sense of spaciousness in a larger area.
Lastly, consider your personal comfort. Some headboard shapes, like those with cushioned padding, offer a more comfortable backrest for reading or lounging in bed. In essence, the shape of your headboard should blend seamlessly with your room’s style, size, and your own comfort preferences.
3. Why should I choose the Piper Headboard?

6. Is a headboard necessary and important?
A headboard offers both functional and aesthetic benefits that can enhance your bedroom. Here’s why you might consider having one:
Functional Benefits
Comfort: A cushioned or padded headboard provides support when sitting up in bed, whether you’re reading, watching TV, or enjoying breakfast.
Protection: It acts as a barrier between the bed and the wall, protecting your wall from scuffs and stains while keeping pillows from slipping off.
Insulation: A headboard can help insulate against cold walls, making your bed feel warmer and cosier.
Aesthetic Benefits
Style Statement: A headboard serves as a focal point, anchoring the bed and tying together your room’s design.
Customisation: With endless options in fabrics, shapes, and designs, a headboard lets you add personality and style to your space.
